A land of ancient power and human progress, Morthos is a divided realm. The Ministry Triumphant, a triumvirate of elite scholars, rule a vast empire in the name of the gods, the Imperial Kings. The people fear and love the Kings, worshipping and singing in their shrines, and the Empire has grown prosperous.
Though amongst the humans of Morthos, dwell another people of an older land. Imperions, the first of the gods’ creation, are scattered amongst the citizens of the Empire. In years past, there was peace amongst the imps and humans; but no longer.
Persecution has befallen the Imperions. The Empire, once a thriving nation of advancement and equality, has become oppressive and cruel.
A young Imperion fathered by a human, Avarro Randirian, finds himself amidst the chaos. Sent away from the forest homeland of the Imperions, he arrives in the city of Carongai in the east of the Empire, far from the capital of Westermount.
Faced with crisis, Avarro must use the wisdom of his ancestry to survive and heal the wound that divides the land.
